Today, February 4th 2025, is World Cancer Day. It is the chance to raise awareness on cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment on a global level.
For this occasion, we are happy to share this article recently published in Horizon, the EU Research and Innovation magazine, in which 4P-CAN Coordinator Marius Geantă was interviewed alongside Joana Drake, Head of the Cancer Mission at the European Commission and Anabela Isidro, Coordinator of the ECHoS project, which aims to establish National Cancer Mission Hubs.
The article highlights the 4P-CAN Leresti Living Lab initiative which took place in Lerești last August 2024, in the context the EU Cancer Mission Roadshow and Cancer Mission Hubs. The Living Lab goes directly to local communities to collect and analyse socio-demographic and health data from residents. As Marius Geantă pointed out, interacting with local citizens and understanding how local authorities can be activated shall enhance primary cancer prevention.
We are proud to contribute to the development of tools for primary cancer prevention in Central and Eastern European countries. 4P-CAN will continue engaging with citizens, healthcare professionals and decision makers on a local level to reduce cancer risk factors, improve prevention, and address inequalities.
