On 14 October 2026, INOMED will organise Champions of Prevention, at 10:00-12:00 CET at the WHO Representation Office to the European Union, in the framework of the first Cancer Literacy Day.
The event will explore how community-based approaches can bring cancer prevention closer to people’s everyday lives, using the Lerești Living Lab in Romania as a starting point. The programme will feature a screening of Champions of Prevention, a 15-minute documentary following the experience of local participant Bogdan and exploring how walking football has helped bring people together around health and prevention.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion bringing together perspectives from public health, research, documentary storytelling and European football, with a focus on community participation, the links between football and health, and how local experiences can inform wider approaches to cancer prevention. The event will conclude with an open audience discussion, offering participants the opportunity to share questions, experiences and ideas for future collaboration.
