Cancer prevention is about much more than reducing risk. It is about empowering people with the knowledge, opportunities and support they need to make healthier choices and protect their health throughout their lives.
As an epidemiologist working in cancer prevention and screening, I have seen first-hand how important it is to bring prevention closer to people and to ensure that evidence-based information, preventive services and early detection are accessible to everyone.
The 4P-CAN project is a valuable opportunity to strengthen a culture of prevention by bringing together research, public health institutions, healthcare professionals and communities. It highlights the importance of acting early and addressing cancer risk factors long before disease develops.
For me, becoming a 4P-CAN Ambassador is an opportunity to advocate even more strongly for prevention as a fundamental part of public health. I believe that by empowering people with knowledge, creating healthier environments and working together across sectors and communities, we can reduce the burden of cancer and help people live longer, healthier lives.
