Public health and oncology experts, together with representatives of national and local public authorities, healthcare institutions, academia, civil society organisations and the private sector, participated in the fifth edition of the workshop on primary cancer prevention through the European Code Against Cancer. The event was organised within the framework of the 4P-CAN project.
The workshop provided a platform for validating the findings of the national diagnostic assessment on primary cancer prevention in the Chisinau Municipality (Moldova), identifying key system gaps and challenges, and prioritising areas for action. Participants also co-developed policy recommendations aimed at strengthening primary cancer prevention, reducing inequalities in access to health services, and fostering the uptake of digital solutions and social innovation to support more effective and equitable prevention strategies.
The General Directorate for Medical and Social Assistance of the Chisinau Municipality is a partner in the implementation of the 4P-CAN project, contributing to the design and promotion of evidence-informed primary cancer prevention measures and strengthening collaboration between public authorities, healthcare providers, research organisations and local communities.
The recommendations developed during the workshop will contribute to the development of evidence-informed local policies and support the implementation of effective interventions to reduce the burden of cancer and promote healthier lifestyles across the Municipality of Chisinau. By fostering cross-sectoral cooperation and citizen-centred approaches, the initiative contributes to strengthening local capacity for sustainable cancer prevention in line with European public health priorities.
